Headteachers and Senior Staff
Over the decades the various school sites have had a vast collection of headteachers. For some periods there is unfortunately, no information available. Photos also only exist for some.
During the time of the school evacuation to Rutland, the Headteacher the Headteacher was Miss Widdecombe - see Evacuation page.

Victorian schools
In the Victorian building from the 1950's Mr. Birmingham was the Headteacher in the Boys' school and Miss Davidson was Headteacher in the Girl's school. Miss Beaufoy was one of the senior Mistresses in the Maynard Road Girl's School and also taught in the 'new' 1970's building when it first opened.
Pupils were clearly in awe of their 'strict' Headteachersand senior staff back in the fifties and sixties. Here are some ex pupil memories......
.........About Miss Beaufoy
Anne Haswell: She taught me how to knit back in the fifties. I remember she would start the day by telling us to sit up straight as good posture was very important. She was a very strict teacher but did have a soft side to her.
.........About Miss Davidson
Janis Bourke: Miss Davidson drove a big black car and wore a fur coat in the winter. I got into trouble once and had to go to her office. It scared the life out of me as I must have been only 7.
Sally Anderson: I remember Miss Davidson too. She kep me back in assembly one morning along with a friend and reprimanded us because we'd been smiling! She obviously thought we were up to no good.

When Elaine Smith left, her successor was Linda Adair (formerly Powell) who had previously work as a teacher at the school. She is now currently Headteacher of Henry Primary School - the two schools were amalgamated in 2012.
