A place to escape to.....
The Community Garden was set up in 2010. It was built on what was a derelict area at the end of the playground. It was where the original entrance from Maynard Road, for the Victorian girls school had been.
Money was raised through sponsorship and money from the PTA. Care of the garden was shared with a team of interested parents who also occasionally opened the garden at weekends for community events.
More recently the school has a team of pupil gardeners who work with a local gardener, Adele Pimley, who is also a past pupil.
The garden is a peaceful quiet area where children enjoy going to read or sketch the plants.
Garden opening ceremony
In 2010 the school was part of the Walthamstow in Bloom group which reached the finals of the RHS Britain in Bloom award and were given a Silver award.
Views of the garden
As part of the gardening opening ceremony, a climbing wall and play area were also 'opened.' The background to the climbing wall was designed by a group of pupils and painted by a volunteer parent group and their children, one weekend.
